Been working on this firefox extension (previously posted here):<p>https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44768714<p>It will send the video id from firefox to a local backend server and kick off yt-dlp.<p>You get not just the video but the transcript as well. So today I added a little more to the extension:<p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSach4YIsns<p>TLDW: you can now just hover over any youtube video and get the transcript on your clipboard.<p>And it got me thinking how much I would want a 100% text only HN style look and feel view of my youtube feed. With big, medium, and short summaries I can select. I could stop watching so many videos just to hear the good stuff. I could read 100x faster.<p>Other hackers of the world, what do you think of this vision?
